May has been a particularly rich and dynamic month for our community. We had the pleasure of welcoming several visiting researchers and hosting their talks, which brought valuable insights and stimulating discussions.
A highlight of the month was the PhD Student Day, which proved to be a great success both in terms of participation and scientific quality. The event provided an opportunity to discover the research of each of our junior researchers and allowed them to receive valuable feedback to further improve and make their future presentations even more impactful, particularly in view of their presentations to the Scientific Committee at the annual workshop on July 2–3.
This month featured two major highlights for our community. The first was CRITICS 2026, hosted at the premises of our partner SystemX together with the IMT National Center for Networks and Systems for Digital Transformation, within which we held the seminar by Michel Barbeau on Thursday, May 7. The second was the PhD Day on May 21, which proved to be a great success in terms of both participation and scientific quality. Together, these events showcased the excellence and diversity of ongoing research, while fostering meaningful exchanges across our community.

May 7 – CRITICS 2026
CRITICS 2026 is an annual Workshop on Cyber Resilience of IT/OT Infrastructures and Complex Systems that this year was organised by SystemX, in collaboration with the RSTN center of IMT, Carleton University and LINCS. Workshop on Cyber at Nano-INNOV (Palaiseau), on May 7th, 2026.
May 21 – Ph.D Student Day
We were around 50 participants at the AMHI Tervin on May 21, where our now well-established PhD Day took place. Over two sessions, around twenty PhD candidates first presented their research in three minutes, and then showcased their scientific posters displayed in the School’s hall. Senior members had the opportunity to ask questions and take note of feedback to provide upon request. We now look forward to the EP and Poster sessions at the annual workshop to see these improvements in action.
Viviana is a researcher at the Department of Computer Science at Sapienza, University of Rome. Her main research interests include Networking and Optimisation, but she has also worked in numerical Linear Algebra and AI and causality for time series. She recently won the MSCA postdoctoral fellowship, and she will be hosted at the Technical University of Berlin starting next October. At Télécom Paris she works with Prof. Leonardo Linguaglossa on studying and modelling the environmental impact of digital services.
Shuangshuang is currently an M1 student in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at École polytechnique(IP Paris) with a 3.5-month internship working with Professor Andrea Araldo.Before starting her master’s, she spent 4 years tackling real-world data in AdTech and Marketing Science. Now, her focus has shifted toward advanced machine learning. She is currently diving into Reinforcement Learning, and has also been actively exploring Generative Models.
Glorieli, a 3rd-year Aerospace Engineering student at the Institut Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées, has joined the lab for a research internship with LINCS invited member Ali Khalesi, focusing on the limits of Walker constellations. Through rigorous simulation and advanced mathematics, we look forward to seeing her push the boundaries of this research!
Tengfei is currently a third-year PhD student at the LIP6 laboratory of Sorbonne University, funded by Inria. He earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science (Networking) from Sorbonne University in 2023 and transitioned directly into his doctoral studies later that year. His research, titled « Distributed Federated Learning for Cloud Infrastructures, » focuses on distributed federated learning and cloud computing, , with the latter currently emphasizing Kubernetes. Beyond his core doctoral topic, Tengfei is also interested in research regarding blockchain, formal methods, and computer networking.
