Hello everyone!

March has been a very productive month. We’ve hosted several talks by international guests, and you can still watch the recordings on our website and on our YouTube channel.

We also held the follow?up meeting to present the outcomes of the December retreat, during which we formalized and documented the main focus of our research strategy.

Scientific strategy session : defining our scientific focus

You will find in this shared document a description of the topics that have been identified as priorities.

These topics are in no way exclusive, and in all cases the list may evolve over time, on simple proposals from the members and with the approval of the ComEx, without waiting for the next scientific strategy meeting.

It is important that all members who are actively working in the indicated topics are mentioned. Please let us know about your activities in these areas, in a very concise way, similar to the way our colleagues have already been presented.

The document will be finalized once we have incorporated your feedback, and we would like to thank those who have already provided theirs.

April 9 – « How to present » Workshop

Especially conceived for Ph.D students, interns and postocs, held by Rémi Warloot (Nokia), we will dedicate the seminar session on Thu, April 9 to a “How to Present” Workshop, which will go over some ideas on how to conceive your presentation based on the timing (from 3 to 40 minutes), your audience (scientific vs. industrial, specialized vs. general), your content (is it a big chunk of maths? system architecture? a survey? etc.), and more.

May 21 – Ph.D Student Day

Please, save the date of the 2026 edition of this event entirely dedicated to the PhD Students, Interns and Postdocs. It will take place on May 21 at Amphi Dieng-Kuntz, Télécom Paris with the purpose of providing our students and junior researchers with an opportunity to present their work, learn about the research of their peers, and receive valuable feedback from senior members of the LINCS.

The program features a morning of elevator pitches and poster sessions, a lunch together, and an open air team building activity nearby in the afternoon.

Additionally, this event will serve as practice for those who will be presenting at the annual workshop in front of the scientific committee, scheduled for July 2 & 3.

Supervisors and senior members are also invited to attend and to give their feedback.

July 2&3 – Annual Workshop with the Scientific Commettee

As is tradition, we are pleased to invite you to the 2026 edition of our Annual Workshop with the Scientific Commitee : a two-day event taking place on Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, in Palaiseau, featuring scientific highlights, surveys, elevator pitches and posters from across our community.

Following the recommendations provided by our Scientific Committee after last year’s edition, this year’s program will feature a more coherent sequence of talks, extended time dedicated to the poster session, a dedicated presentation on the laboratory’s scientific focus and achievements as well as the associated activities, and two talks by members of the Scientific Committee.

In addition, on the evening of July 2, we are pleased to invite you to a dinner in a special location in Paris.

Newcomers

Hanaa Tabet Aoul as an Intern (Nokia)

Hanaa Tabet Aoul is an Algerian computer-science student currently interning at Nokia Bell Labs, where she is working on the optimization of quantum networks alongside Ludovic Noirie. Previously, she completed an internship at Ritsumeikan University where she worked on the purification ordering problem in quantum networks. She is enthusiastic about contributing to the development of future quantum networking technologies.

Timothée Mac Garry as a PhD (Telecom Paris)

Timothée Mac Garry Timothée is a CIFRE PhD student at Télécom Paris, affiliated with INFRES and Greenerwave, a deep-tech company that develops metasurface-based technology using commercially off-the-shelf electronics to reduce costs and improve energy efficiency in electromagnetics-dependent applications. He obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Networks from INSA Toulouse. He completed his end-of-studies internship at Greenerwave and continued working there before starting his PhD.

During his PhD, his research focuses on prototyping a metasurface-based antenna to enhance user experience and coverage uniformity in cell-free MIMO, a telecommunications paradigm that eliminates the traditional concept of cells. He also develops physical-layer O-RAN algorithms to enable mobility management and dynamic user tracking using the metasurface-based antenna prototype.

Giuseppe Perrone as a Visiting Student (SystemX)

Giuseppe Perrone Giuseppe is a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino (IT), where he also obtained both his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and his Master’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering, specializing in the vehicular sector.

His research focuses on generative AI for the creation of realistic scenarios applied to mobility, with a particular emphasis on improving the safety and robustness of autonomous vehicles. His work explores the integration of autonomous driving and connectivity technologies to address the challenges of modern vehicular systems.

Agostino Fiumana as an Intern (Telecom Paris)

Agostino Fiumana Agostino is a Master’s student at the University of Bologna (IT), where he is pursuing a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, following a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics. He is now developing his master thesis as a research stagiaire.

His current work focuses on cloud-native environments, with particular attention to observability techniques aimed at enabling informed resource management. His research explores how non-invasive data collection techniques can improve system efficiency, reliability, and performance in distributed environments.

Nicola Cassano as an Intern (Telecom Paris)

Nicola Cassano Nicola is a Master’s student in Telecommunications Engineering, specializing in Cybersecurity, at the Politecnico di Bari, where he also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Automation Engineering. He is currently completing an internship at Télécom Paris, focusing on the application of TinyML within network contexts.

His work explores the integration of machine learning into resource-constrained devices to enhance the intelligence and security of modern network infrastructures.

Mehdi Sofiane Debbah as a Ph.D student (Telecom Paris)

Mehdi is a PhD student at Télécom Paris, conducting his research within the INFRES team. He holds a Master’s degree in Networks and Systems from Université Paris-Saclay. Prior to starting his PhD, he worked as an engineer at Inria Palaiseau, where he contributed to the development of an IoT platform dedicated to cellular IoT network experimentation.

His current research focuses on energy-aware profiling and compilation for next-generation network infrastructures, with a particular emphasis on 5G Open Radio Access Networks (O-RAN). More specifically, his work investigates the energy consumption of baseband processing at the DU level within the radio access network.

To support this research, he is actively deploying experimental testbeds based on srsRAN, Open5GS, and O-RAN-compliant hardware. These platforms enable the collection of real network traffic and performance data, which are used to design and train machine learning models for energy optimization.
