LINCS laboratory launch

On Monday May 2nd 2011, an opening ceremony was held for the LINCS laboratory, including a visit from Valérie Pécresse, the French minister for higher education and research, who gave a speech and toured the laboratory.

Ms Pécresse praised the LINCS as a “model research laboratory”, one of the first in France to include partner institutions from both the public and private sectors, thereby fostering cross-sector cooperation and the decompartmentalization of the national system of research and innovation. She pledged a commitment to the domain of networking research and innovation, highlighting the ever-increasing role the Internet is set to play in our lives, as the Internet of Things becomes a reality. Also present at the inauguration were Jean-Luc Beylat, president of Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs France, Michel Cosnard, CEO of INRIA, Jean-Claude Jeanneret, CEO of the Institut Télécom and Jean-Charles Pomerol, president of UPMC.
