Founded in 2022, Univity is a French startup that aims at deploying a mega constellation of satellites in very low Earth orbit (VLEO), using a 5G mmWave network to provide connectivity globally.
In this talk, after a short introduction to Univity’s activities, we will present some components of Univity architecture and the key technological and mathematical challenges the design of such a system face : routing, scheduling, beamforming, sizing of the satellites, numerical simulations, etc.
Some aspects of this work is part of a collaboration between IMT and Univity, and resulted in a published paper at IEEE GLOBECOM 2025 – Timing advance and Doppler shift estimation in LEO satellite networks: A recursive Bayesian study, A. Balakrishnan, P. Martins, P. Popineau.
