Abstract: Locator/Identifier splitting is a paradigm proposed to help
Internet scalability. At the same time, the separation of the locator
and the identifier name spaces allows for a more flexible management of traffic engineering, mobility and multi.homing. A mapping system is require for the binding of locators and identifiers. This mapping is helped by the use of a cache where ongoing associations are kept. The management and dimensioning of this cache is a critical aspect of this new architecture for its future deployment. We present a model for the caching system and and evaluation of its behaviour using real traffic traces. The talk will present the recent research work on LOC/ID splitting architectures.
